ISLAMABAD (ENN/MD) The Royal Court of London has upheld the decision to revoke the 10-year British visa of property tycoon Malik Riaz and his son Ali Riaz Malik, both of whom can no longer enter the UK.
The Royal Court of London has ruled against Malik Riaz and his son Ali Riaz, saying that it was in the interest of the British people for Malik Riaz and his son not to come to Britain.
According to the written decision, female judge Nicola Davis wrote that although Malik Riaz was not convicted, there is a strong possibility that he has been involved in corruption and financial / commercial irregularities.
The ruling said that the expulsion of Malik Riyadh from Britain in line with its commitment against corruption would be better for the British people. Malik Riaz’s financial irregularities are related to his company Bahria Town, which is wholly owned by Malik Riaz and he as chairman while his son Ali Riaz is with him as CEO.
The ruling said the continued rise in assets of Malik Riaz and his family in the UK was questionable and that it appeared that the assets had been transferred to the UK to avoid punishment in Pakistan.
Voice of America contacted Col. Khalil, Malik Riyadh’s staff officer, for a response to the decision, but telephone calls and messages were not answered.
Background of the decision
The British court’s decision follows a National Crime Agency (NCA) investigation and a کروڑ 190 million settlement with Malik Riaz in 2019. The money was to be given to the government of Pakistan, but Malik Riaz had said that he had sold one of his properties in the UK to the Supreme Court of Pakistan for a payment of Rs 460 billion.
At the time, Pakistan’s interior adviser, Shehzad Akbar, had also termed the issue as a major achievement of Pakistan that کروڑ 190 million was being given to Pakistan. However, the money is still with the Supreme Court, for which the Sindh government has filed a petition in the court.
Malik Riaz and his son had a 10 year UK multiple entry visa, valid for Malik Riaz till 28 July 2021 and for Ali Malik till 10 May 2021, but after the decision of the Home Office in 2019, these visas were revoked. Was canceled.
Malik Riaz’s lawyers then filed a pre-action protocol petition in the Home Office, upholding the decision to revoke his visa on January 31, 2020, after which Malik Riaz applied to the Immigration and Asylum Chamber for review. On November 17, 2020, the tribunal rejected the review request.
Following the ruling, Malik Riaz filed an appeal in the Royal Court of Justice, but a three-judge bench has now rejected the appeal.
What was Malik Riaz’s agreement with the Supreme Court?
On the orders of the Supreme Court of Pakistan, Bahria Town had announced to pay Rs.
During the hearing of the case in the Supreme Court, the court was told that thousands of acres of land have been given to Bahria Town at very cheap rates and this includes some officials of Malir Development Authority and Sindh government. Was banned.
Later, during the hearing of the case in this regard, Bahria Town agreed to pay Rs 460 billion, after which the land acquisition case was dropped.
