SWAT (ENN) Two days awareness seminar and training workshops on Learning Disabilities, Autism and ADHD, was organized by Department of Psychological Studies, on Thursday at University of Swat.
The program was organized in collaboration with Autism Spectrum Disorders Welfare Trust (ASDWT), Lahore.
In his welcome Speech by the Head of Department Faheem Uddin, said the progress and developments made in Department of Psychological Studies was highlighted.
He added that large number of students and community members approach the department for psychological help and counseling services.
Dr. Salma Khalid (Vice Chairperson, ASDWT), Farah Amanat (Senior Clinical Psychologist) and Ahmar Sultan (IT Expert) were the Guest Speakers on the occasion.
They informed the audience that 15% population is fighting with mental health issues and various disabilities.
Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Jamal Khan said “we need to make collective efforts for helping the 15% population suffering from severe psychological problems”. He further added that full-fledged “Psychotherapy Center”, “Speech Therapy Unit” and “Assessment and Counseling Center” will be established in New Campus, Charbagh.
lecturer Salahuddin of psychology department told ENN that such events can help and pave the way to an ideal society.
Habib Khan, a student of journalism department said that we should respect every member of the society and person with disablities are the special one to us they should be promoted by education and co curricular activities.
