Swat police arrests accused in harassment Case

SWAT(By Haroon Siraj/ENN) Additional SP Swat Arshad Khan said, providing protection and guidance to tourists in Swat Valley is the top priority
of Swat Police. A tent owner has been arrested in Mahodand Lake for allegedly trying to harass a Lahore based tourist. Briefing the mediaperson at DPO office Saidu Sharif, he said that the incident of harassment that took place between Lahore couple staying in a tent named Khan Jee tent hotel at Mahudand Lake where a man in mid night of 18 June entered to the couple’s tent holding a knife and tried to harass woman but on the resistance of his husband, he attacked with a knife and injured his hands. After the incident the accused escaped and the injured tourist was shifted to Kalam Hospital but initially the affected couple did not lodge any report with the police. Later on when the tourist couple reached their home station Lahore, they lodged an online complaint to Commissioner Malakand and then Swat police
registered a case at Kalam police station and arrested 45 suspects and shared their pictures with the tourist couple. In which the affected couple identified Habib-ur- Rehman alias Affan son of Karimullah resident of Usho Kalam. Police arrested the accused and recovered a knife from his possession while the accused has also confessed the
crime. The Additional SP said that tent owner Khanzada alias Khanji, a resident of Usho, has also been arrested on the report of the plaintiff. He said that the elders of the area also cooperated with the police in this incident and gave assurances to the administration to prevent such incidents in future. He said that the management would work with the hotel association and the community to take more stringent security measures and ensure safety of life and property of the tourists. While the civil society showed their
displeasure over the incident and demanded from the authorities to give exemplary punishment to the accused.
