Another polio case surfaces in Pakistan’s largest city Karachi


KARACHI (By Lala Hassan) Refusals and lack of awareness against vaccination has led to another polio case in Pakistan’s cosmopolitan city Karachi, the national institute for health has confirmed.

“Misleading propaganda against vaccination leads to misconceptions, parents must not fall prey to it” told EOC Sindh.

According to reports six month old male child who was a chronic refusal has fallen victim to the polio virus in Gulshan-e-Iqbal Union Council 12 in provincial capital of Sindh.

Officials said refusal families not only put their children in danger of getting polio but also the children of others as well.

According to child’s father, grandmother and uncle, child developed low grade fever on 28th April 2019 and he went for consultation to MAMJI Hospital Gulberg. Fever was followed by weakness of both lower limbs on 29th of April.

Sindh has three polio cases in 2019, one from Larkana and two from Karachi.

Pakistan cases count stands 17, told the officials.

Coordinator EOC Sindh said “This is why we have repeatedly been raising awareness that please vaccinate your children with 2 drops of the polio vaccine every time they are offered”.

Official requested media to spread awareness around repeated vaccination being necessary for the future of our children that will help us to quash misconceptions.

 According to the parents of child that boy never took polio drops since his birth.
