ISLAMABAD (PR/ENNS) Defence of Human Rights (DHR) is extremely concerned about the apparent abduction of Pakistani journalist Matiullah Jan, renowned for his bold stance and criticism. He has been seen in a CCTV footage being forcefully dragged into a vehicle by plain clothed men and uniformed personnel. His disappearance has been confirmed by ministers of Government of Pakitan as well but without any explanation. This move is part of the harassment and an ongoing campaign to subjugate media and journalism in Pakistan. DHR strongly urge upon Government of Pakistan to not only surface Matiullah Jan but check its efforts to persecute journalists and its ambition to curb freedom of expression. It is to be remembered that he produced many newspaper and television reports about situation of enforced disappearance in Pakistan.
