140 SNOs without salaries in Punjab

Mall (BUM) department are deprived of their salaries and their one year contract has not been extended which expired on July 15, 2019.

A visually impaired SNO Ijaz Ahmed told ENNS that 182 vacancies for special persons were announced in February 2018 and almost 140 special persons including visually impaired, physically disabled and deaf persons were appointed in 36 districts of Punjab in PSW and BUM departments to facilitate the educated special persons.

Their extendable contract period started from July 15, 2018 and was expired on July 15, 2019 and now their salaries have been stopped. Ijaz explained that they were visiting the offices of district and divisional PSW and BUM offices but their contract was not being extended. He said that initially the government was very much interested for their jobs and it also released huge funds and also arranged one month training at Lahore for special persons.

He further told that after the appointments of special persons in PSW and BUM

department, the registration of educated special persons increased up to 15 pc and enrollment of special children has also increased in schools as well. When contacted spokesperson for provincial minister PSW and BUM Raja Muhammad Basharat, Malik Naeem told that the summary for regularization of visually impaired persons has been sent to CM Punjab. He said that their salaries will also be released soon.

He added that 1118 special persons were appointed in which 107 were visually

impaired persons. Remaining 2500 vacancies for special persons will also be fulfilled within a month, he said. He further told that minister has specially instructed to all departments that give priority visually impaired and physically disable persons for jobs as per fixed quota.
