USA to ease export of surgical instruments from Sialkot

SIALKOT (ENN) USA has announced its all the technical assistance and guidance to ensure the hurdle free easy access of Sialkot based surgical instruments manufacturers and exporters to USA markets, besides, making all out sincere efforts to motivate the American businessmen for the direct imports of the Sialkot-made surgical instruments direct from Sialkot-Pakistan instead of purchasing these surgical instruments from the other countries on high prices.

Ann Mason (Political and Economic Section Chief, USA Consulate General Lahore) stated this while addressing an important meeting of Sialkot based surgical instruments manufacturers and exporters held at Surgical Instruments Manufacturers Association of Pakistan (SIMAP). Chairman SIMAP Khalilur Rehman Mughal presided over the meeting.

Ann Mason said that the Sialkot based surgical instruments manufacturers and exporters were producing the world class high quality and standard surgical instruments around the globe, as their high quality was very impressive as well.

She said that the direct import of Sialkot-made surgical instruments from Sialkot-Pakistan to USA could be very attractive for the surgical instruments’ markets in USA, as this step could also be helpful for the American businessmen to save a lot of money.

Ann Mason added that there should be proper guidance and technical assistance for the Sialkot based surgical instruments manufactures and exporters to ensure their easy access to the USA markets.

She said that USA was ready to provide all the technical assistance and guidance to the surgical instruments manufacturers and exporters in Sialkot as well.

She said that USA was keen to establish strengthened mutual trade ties with Pakistan.

On this occasion, Chairman SIMAP Khalilur Rehman told the meeting that world’s several leading countries including Germany, Italy and France had been importing these surgical instruments from Sialkot-Pakistan for resale purpose and the said countries were selling the Sialkot-made surgical instruments to the other countries including USA on very high prices.

He said that USA must focus on importing these Sialkot-made surgical instruments direct from Sialkot-Pakistan instead of purchasing from the other countries on high prices.

“We are working very hard to introduce all advance production techniques/procedures/machinery to upgrade quality of our products”, he added.

He said that the total exports of surgical instruments from Sialkot-Pakistan to USA remained to the tune of US $ 101.243 million in 2018. He said that there was a great potential to increase these mutual exports between Sialkot-Pakistan to USA as well.

“There is big room that we can increase our sales to USA in this specific sector”, he revealed.

On this occasion, the Leader of Pakistan’s Surgical Industry Muhammad Jehangir Bajwa said “Although Sialkot-made surgical instruments were being imported by whole world but USA has a distinction of being a biggest importer of these instruments from many years”.

“We at SIMAP are representing a very special cluster of micro, small and very few medium size manufacturers of Surgical, Dental, Veterinary and manicure and pedicure instruments” he narrated.

Amna Anis (Economic Assistant, US Consulate General, Lahore) and

Hassan Raza (Commercial Specialist, US Consulate, and Lahore) and other leading surgical exporters also attended the meeting.

Earlier Mason also visited Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) here today. She discussed in details the matters of mutual interest with acting SCCI President Waqas Akram Awan and other members.

She also visited some industrial units in Sialkot and she witnessed the international standard craftsmanship of Sialkot based artisans as well.
