TLP Chief Khadim Rizvi, others arrested in Lahore


LAHORE/ SIALKOT (ENN) Tehreek-i-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) Chief Khadim Hussain Rizvi has been taken into custody by law enforcement agencies, reports say.

A family member of Rizvi confirmed that the TLP chief has been taken into custody.

“He was arrested from his hujra in Lahore,” a family member of Rizvi told media.

Rizvi’s son, Saad, while talking to a local TV channel said along with his father, all district leaders of TLP have been arrested.

When contacted, Punjab information and law ministers said they did not know about any such action being taken against Rizvi.

According to police sources, a crackdown is currently underway against TLP leaders in several major cities. At least 30 of the party’s workers have been arrested from various parts of the capital and Sialkot district.

According to ENN’s Sialkot correspondent Police tonight launched a vigorous crackdown against the activists of Tehreek Labaik Pakistan(TLP) in Sialkot district late friday night.

According to the senior police officials have arrested Sufi Muhammad Rafiq (District Ameer TLP Sialkot district) and four other TLP activists namely Saleem Shahid, Mehbub Hassan , Nasir Dogar and Syed Kaleemul Hassan Shah.
Police have shifted these accused activists to unknown place.

Police officials added that most of the local TLP leaders and activists have gone underground in Sialkot, Daska, Sambrial and Pasrur tehsils before this crackdown
