SIALKOT (by Abid Mehdi) Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal was shot and injured by unknown assailants in Narowal’s tehsil Kanjrur here on Sunday, but his position is being told stable.
According to details the interior minister Ahsan received a bullet wound on his arm as he was sitting in his vehicle when the incident happened.
Iqbal was shifted to the hospital immediately after the incident. According to family members, Iqbal was out of danger.
According to the local senior police officials, an armed accused,aged between 22 to 25 years, shot a fire on Interior Minister,when the only bullet fire by the accused hit the right arm of the Ch. Ahsan Iqbal, injuring him seriously.

Accused fired the bullet from the distance of 10 to 20 yards,said Narowal DPO Kishwar Imran.
Police and personnel of the security agencies arrested accused,later identified as Abid Hussain,who belonged to a banned militant organization.
Security agencies shifted the accused to unknown place,where the interrogation was underway,said the local senior police officials.
Injured Interior Minister Ch. Ahsan Iqbal was shifted to Narowal DHQ Hospital, where he was under treatment. Doctors said that his condition was out of danger now.
This nasty incident created a panic and harassment in the area. He was attacked few weeks ago as well with shoe by the member of religious group. Late he was shifted to Lahore on special helicopter of Chief Minister Punjab.

Another accused arrested
Police have arrested another suspect involved in the assassination attempt on Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal, here on Monday.
Iqbal, who was shot in the arm on Sunday evening during a rally in his constituency Narowal, is currently under treatment at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Services Hospital.
The police have already arrested the prime suspect in the case Abid Hussain, who is said to have shot at the interior minister from a distance of 15 yards as the latter entered his vehicle to leave the rally ground in tehsil Kanjrur.
Abid’s accomplice Azeem, a resident of Mansoor Pura, has also been arrested, according to police sources.
Police sources said that Azeem and Abid Hussain had reached the incident site in a motorcycle. However, Azeem had managed to escape after the incident occurred.
Abid, a resident of Narowal, was taken into custody after workers of Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz, standing near him, tackled him after he opened fire at Iqbal, according to Punjab Government Spokesperson Malik Ahmed Khan. He further said the suspect was stopped from firing a second shot.
