Asma Jahangir scholarship awarded under UK Chevening Program

LAHORE (ENNS) The Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP) is delighted to learn that the inaugural Asma Jahangir Scholarship has been awarded to Sana Gul by the British High Commissioner in Islamabad.

The scholarship was launched earlier this year as part of the UK Chevening Scholarship Program and honours the extraordinary legacy of HRCP’s co-founder. It will be awarded annually on merit to the best female Chevening scholar.

Speaking on the occasion, HRCP council member Munizae Jahangir congratulated Ms Gul and thanked the British government for initiating the award to honour her mother, adding that it was ‘Asma who always said, “It will be the women of Pakistan who will bring about real change”.’
