WASHINGTON/ ISLAMABAD (ENNS) Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Bajwa visited the US State Department and met with Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, tweeted Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Major General Asif Ghafoor Bajwa on Wednesday.
According to DG, ISPR, during the meeting the two leaders discussed regional security issues and Afghan peace process as well.
In the meeting, the importance of an Afghan-led process and Afghan-controlled solutions were noted, according to the ISPR.
In another tweet, the DG ISPR quoted the Army chief as saying: “Pakistan attaches great importance to restoring a robust bilateral relationship based on mutual respect, trust and shared values.”
COAS visited US State Department and called on US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo. The two discussed regional security issues especially focussing on Afghan peace process, noting the importance of an Afghan led and Afghan controlled solution. (1of2).
The COAS also met the top US military leadership during his visit to Pentagon.
Earlier upon his arrival, the army chief was given a 21-gun salute.
