DELHI/ ISLAMABAD (ENNS) Doctor couple has chosen a nice way to remember their killed little daughter by donating to others little girls.
According to details in last December, Dr Umesh Savarkar, a gynaecologist, and his wife Dr Ashwini, a pathologist — who run an IVF centre in Amravati, tried everything possible to donate the organs of their three-month-old daughter Meera, who was left brain dead after a horrific road accident.
Unfortunately, the donation attempt failed as the state and national machinery didn’t know how to act on the unprecedented request of harvesting organs of an infant; the baby girl died before her organs could be taken.
Eight months later, in an inspiring and heart-warming gesture, the doctor couple has funded the heart surgeries of two children in this month, what would have been their daughter’s first birthday. It was finally the closure they sought after saving precious lives, something they wanted to achieve by donating Meera’s organs.
