SIALKOT (By Abid Mehdi) A large number of the people staged agitational demonstration and sit-in against the local traffic police and administration in Zafarwal for their alleged slackness and less interest in checking over load on vehicles and in getting the local shabby roads repaired in Zafarwal.
The protesters, including women and children, said traffic police did not check the over load truck, which was coming on the wrong side of the road. Truck fell on the near by auto rickshaw, which killed seven minor school children and their driver on the spot besides injuring six other students critically, as they were going to their school on Friday.
The protesting people were carrying agitational banners and placards and they chanted slogans against local police administration for their slackness, in this regard.
They kept the traffic blocked for about three consecutive hours (from 09:00 am to 12:00 pm) on all the main inter-city roads in Zafarwal by setting tyres on fire over there.
Later, the local senior police officials negotiated with the protesters and assured them early stern legal action against the all those, who will be found responsible for this Zafarwal tragedy. On this assurance, they dispersed peacefully.
Meanwhile, Muhammad Shakeel Khan Advocate (General Secretary Zafarwal Bar Association) has already submitted a formal application at Zafarwal police station of a case this Zafarwal tragedy against the local administration for its negligence. Police have not yet registered this case.
