GHOTKI (ENNS) Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) candidate Mohammad Bakhsh Maher, the former CM Sindh’s advisor on Youth Affairs, defeated Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) backed Independent candidate Ahmed Ali Maher, the son of former PTI govt’s federal minister Ali Mohammad Khan Maher in the by-election held for NA-205 seat in Ghotki district of Sindh province.
Defeated Maher had the support of PTI and Grand Democratic Alliance as well.
According to the unconfirmed and unofficial results of about 290 polling stations, PPP’s Maher bagged more than 89,100 votes; while his opponent Ali Maher took 72,940 votes.
NA 205 became vacant after the death of former federal minister and Chief Minister Sindh Sardar Ali Mohammad Khan Maher.
He had won the seat as an independent candidate but later joined PTI government as federal minister. Maher was attacked in his house at Karachi few months ago and later he died due to heart attack.
PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari spoke to media in Ghotki and congratulated Mohammad Bakhsh Maher. He said that the people have given a clear message that they have made their decision and they don’t want PM Khan’s new Pakistan.
