KARACHI (ENNS) National Lobbying Delegation on Minority Rights, comprised of Anthony Naveed, M. Parkash Mahtani Advocate, Jai Parkash Moorani, Krishan Sharma, Dr. Sabir Michel, Ross Mahtani and Atif Sharif called on Justice (r) Majida Razvi, Chairperson Sindh Human Rights Commission (SHRC) regarding amendments in Christian Personal Laws including Christian Marriage Act 1872 and Christian Divorce Act 1869.
Furthermore, the delegation also shared that Sindh Assembly had passed historic amendments in Sindh Hindu Marriages Act in May 2018, making it a comprehensive act. However, its rules of business not yet framed and needs to be expedited.
The delegation also submitted the draft of “Rules of Business for Sindh Hindu Marriage Amendment Act, 2018” and “Christian Personal Law” Bill.
The comprehensive discussion was held on the draft and the Chairperson SHRC Justice Razvi extended her full support to the religious minority citizens of Pakistan and assured on taking up the issue with concerned departments of Sindh government.
Moreover the delegation also congratulated Chairperson SHRC for extension in her tenure and commended Commission’s efforts and work for protection of Human Rights.
